Forge is a mod loader: a modified version of Minecraft that lets mods load into the game. If you have played Minecraft with mods, you have most likely used it.
¶ Before you start
- To run mods for friends, a Minecraft server with Gravel Host. No server yet? Get one here
¶ What is Forge?
Forge has been updated since Minecraft 1.1 and is still one of the main mod loaders. It is usually installed automatically if you install mods through the CurseForge app.
¶ Install Forge on your PC
- Download the Forge installer for your Minecraft version from the official Forge website.
- Run the
.jarfile you downloaded and click OK.
- Forge now shows as an option in your Minecraft launcher.
¶ Add mods on your PC
Forge mods are .jar files. You need them both on your computer and on your server to play on a modded server.
- In the Minecraft launcher, open the Installations tab and click the folder icon next to Forge.
- File Explorer opens the Forge folder. Drag your mod
